The Rubber Jointed Cheltenham Gag is mainly used on horses that are heavy in front as the gag action lifts them. The rubber covering makes this bit softer and means the horse is more likely to accept the bit. Gags are designed to be used with Gag cheeks which allow the bit to slide freely. These are available separately in either leather or rope.
